Erythritol is the only one of the sugar alcohols or “polyols” that is 100% not used by the body. In other words, it has no calories, no usable carbohydrates and no effect on blood sugar.
Officially, it has to be listed as a carbohydrate in the nutritional values, but it can be completely deducted as the body cannot absorb it and it has a calorific value of 0.
